| Danilo Torres was the Deaf Way II country representative for Colombia and chairperson of the Colombian committee for Deaf way II. Also, he served as Colombian Sign Language/ASL interpreter for Deaf Way II at Gallaudet University in 2002. Also he served as interpreter for 4th Pan American Deaf Youth Games in 2006.
He was employed at Gallaudet Interpreting Service as a deaf-blind interpreter as well as at the former Center for American Sign Language Literacy, now known as the Center for ASL/English Bilingual Education and Research (CAEBER) as an American Sign Language Instructor and Graduate Assistant for Latin America outreach at the Center for International Programs and Services.
He is currently a graduate student in Deaf Education at Gallaudet University’s Education Department. He currently teaches American Sign Language in Conversational Skills I and II courses at the English Language Institute at Gallaudet University. He also is assistant director for the International Deaf Partnership program at Gallaudet University’s Foreign Language Department.
He is a founder and contributing webmaster, photographer and filmmaker for www.sorcol.com (Sordos de Colombia website) to empower the Latin-American and Colombia deaf community.
He is currently serving as the international sign translator and member of the media team of the Gallaudet University WORLDEAF Cinema Festival.
